2 LP (3 sides)
Promotional only set issued for radio play only
featuring Pat Travers / Roger Glover of Rainbow
A radio chat show with comedian Robert Klein
Side A: 1st part is RK joking with the studio audience
then Pat Travers appears chatting to RK and various songs from 'Radioactive'
All this interspersed with ads for Miller beer and Columbia
Side B: continuation of side A finishing with a live performance with PT on guitar and RK doing a stupid song with harmonica accompaniment (unknown-Klein or PT)
Side C: Roger Glover (of Rainbow) with PT remaining on stage and occasionally joining in
Tracks from 'Difficult to cure'
RG says the toughest thing about touring is the laundry - (jokes from all about this)
RG then discusses the artwork for 'DTC' LP
Interestingly there is a reference to 'working class music' vis-a-vvis Deep Purple but Klein cannot remember where he heard it (reference 'Army reserve-Nightbird-with Ian Paice and Glenn Hughes in 1976-promoting 'Stormbringer' where this term is specifically used)-see other listings
RG then goes on about opening a home for ex Rainbow members (to house about 300!) and talks about the (then 1981) about 15 personnel changes since Ritchie formed Rainbow-initially a side solo project which Blackmore developed into a studio band. However deciding to go on tour as RB's Rainbow he sacked the studio band and selected musicians specifically for touring-according to RG
RG mentions that RB should be in a sanitorium ! and various comments about Blackmore and his psychotic behaviour are nadied around the stage in a jokey way...then...
RG relates the story of how RB smashes a TV camera on stage during the Deep Purple California jam and relates the various conditions that RB laid down as a condition of performing.
RG did not witness this as he had left the band 6 months earlier
The problem was that NONE of these conditions were met which is why he went ballistic (specifically the set had to take place once darkness had descended in order to make best use of the effects-lighting etc) and NO cameras on the actual stage !!
He went ballistic when arriving to start the set (not in darkness) and found a TV camera (it was being broadcast live) only 2 feet from his position on stage-hence the $30000 worth of damage which then ensued
Tracks I surrender and Spotlight kid
Comes in plain white die-cut covers
As with all these LPs made for radio play there is occasionally background noise probably due to the pressing quality
This applies to Nightbird-Army reserve product and similar
